About us and the role

We are looking to appoint an experienced and organised Site Manager to take responsibility for the maintenance, safety, security and day-to-day operation of the school site at Avanti Gardens School in Bristol.

Working closely with the Principal and wider school team, you will ensure our facilities are maintained to a high standard and provide a safe, welcoming environment for pupils, staff and visitors.

You will lead on site operations, contractors, cleaning, caretaking, compliance and lettings, while ensuring that health and safety requirements are consistently met.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-growing Multi Academy Trust with schools based in London, the midlands and the South West of England. All Avanti schools provide pupils with an outstanding education rooted in the inclusive and distinctive Avanti Schools ethos of educational excellence, character development, and spiritual insight.

What will you do?

  • Oversee the day-to-day maintenance, security, cleaning, caretaking and general upkeep of the school site, ensuring facilities are safe, well-maintained and fit for purpose.
  • Lead and coordinate contractors, cleaners and site staff, ensuring work is completed to a high standard, within agreed timescales and in line with Avanti Schools Trust policies and requirements.
  • Manage health and safety, compliance checks, inspections, risk assessments, maintenance schedules and associated records, promptly escalating any significant issues or risks to the Principal and relevant colleagues.
  • Manage lettings, deliveries, stock, equipment, supplies and site-related budgets, ensuring resources are appropriately maintained, securely stored and used effectively.
  • Build positive relationships with colleagues, contractors, parents and other stakeholders, while contributing to the wider life of the school and upholding the Trust’s ethos, safeguarding responsibilities and commitment to the welfare of children and young people.

Why should you apply

Avanti exists to help each person become a well-rounded human being through intellectual, moral and spiritual growth, and so make the world a better place.

You will be working in a fantastic environment, with:

  • Great opportunities for professional development
  • LGPS pension scheme (subject to eligibility)
  • O2 discounts, Specsavers corporate eye test vouchers
  • Eligible for NUS Card and CSSC membership
  • Well-being programs (retreats, yoga, wellness apps)
  • Cycle-to-work Scheme

What are we looking for?

  • Experience in a facilities management or similar role.
  • Strong knowledge of health and safety regulations and other relevant legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • A proactive and positive approach to problem-solving.
  • Commitment to the safeguarding and welfare of all students
